OUR PROGRAM
Our goal is to educate, enrich, enable and inspire children to be continuously curious and learn from the natural world around them.
We are a volunteer based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing environmental and educational field trips to inner-city children. Our program serves schools, with a majority of low-income students, that have the least amount of resources for these types of trips.
We believe to be effective a field trip must include rigorous pre-trip instruction and discussion on the vital aspects of the trip to maximize learning and increase a child's critical thinking abilities.
Our program receives financial support from individual donations with no government funding.
We live in an area that enriches us with an unique blend of culture and an incredible natural environment: our parks, beaches, rivers, and mountains.
Our trips will include museums, parks, colleges, zoos, art culture (music, dance, theatre), career related trips, and trips where they can be part of doing something environmental and enhance the neighborhoods in which they live in.
We would like to give out flyers to your third and fourth grade students to submit a letter on why they think they should be chosen for this adventure.
From those we would like to choose 50 students. We will have 10 adult volunteers that will ensure a 5:1 ratio of volunteer to student.
We hope to have all our letters in before the end of the school year to better prepare our trips, which will be held every Saturday, beginning the first week of July.
Our main theme is to teach children about hope, optimism, humility, forgiveness, compassion, cooperation, gratitude and most importantly, which more and more research is proving to be an important factor in a happy and successful childhood, empathy.
